confession: addicted to eating out

I have a problem. I’ve been better about budgeting, saving money and just becoming a little more fiscally responsible lately. But I just can’t quit restaurants. I can’t even tell you how many times I ate out last week – my parents read the blog and I have a feeling I’d be getting a call from my Father. Seriously. :(

I could blame it on a number of things – Restaurant Week, the Lakers vs. Timberwolves game, two-for-one Chipotle and a love for date nights and dinner with friends.  But there really isn’t a good excuse.

Speaking of restaurant week, look what we saw in the March issue of Mpls St. Paul Magazine! Recognize anyone?

On the upside, we met an Iron Chef, visited a restaurant that is slated to close, had some great dinners with friends and tried __ new restaurants. I suppose I can look at those as positives but I’ve got to answer to my expanded belly and shrunken pocketbook now… let’s just hope that my Dad doesn’t call to lecture. ;)

Please tell me I’m not the only one!!

I like eating out, but I definitely can’t afford to do it very often. I prefer to hit up ethnic places, serving food I don’t typically make at home. Indian is one of my favorite things to have out, since I still haven’t mastered the same flavors in my own kitchen!

i hear you! we have such good food in the cities. it is a crime not to go out and enjoy it :) i can rationalize anything.

I love restaurants, eating out and trying new places, sigh. A good chunk of my money goes to those but I try to scale back by using Groupons, BOGO deals, etc.

    I want your autograph!! :)

Ugh I know how you feel…I am going on vacation next week and I know I will be eating out more than I really want to and more importantly than I should! It is hard on my tummy and my wallet. I hope you don’t get a call from your papa too! That’s always a little scary :-)

Congrats on the magazine debut! How fun!

Restaurant dining is a major weakness of mine…SOOO much amazing food to try, so little time…and so little money!! I was a bit out of control last summer, but returning to school (mostly night classes) has made it nearly impossible to eat out more than once/week. (Unless you count Whole Foods…I eat there almost every day–sometimes twice!).

Our friends who just had their second were telling us that they NEVER go out to eat anymore so that we should take advantage while we can. :)

Emily, I can SO relate! I was actually online trying to find a support group to help with this exact issue. I can’t seem to stop despite all of the facts, financial and health. I’m a true addict. When I think of giving up restaurants, I see no joy in life…retarded, I know.

Annie, you definitely aren’t alone. I wish I had some resources to recommend, if I come across any, I’ll let you know!
