NYC

Before I get to New York, I want to wish everyone a Happy Valentine’s Day! I know half the world hates it, but like I told the kids at Camp – single or not,  it’s a perfect day to think about what you love about YOURSELF!

The Taster and I celebrated last night with an amazing dinner at Alma, one of our favorite restaurants in Minneapolis. Everything was utterly delicious, as usual.

Now to New York! My trip to New York City was successful, fun and very quick!

Wednesday morning I had a chance to bum around a bit, but I must admit, it was so cold that it was hard to be outside. Yes, I live in Minnesota, but that doesn’t mean I’ll ever like the cold weather. So I walked around Times Square for a bit, stopped in for a bagel with lox cream cheese spread and then cabbed it to Columbus Circle.

A chewy, white flour, REAL New York Bagel is always a must. It was wonderful. :)

I found a nice mall (read warm) to walk around but decided to head back out, brave the elements and walk around Central Park. It’s not as charming in the Winter, in fact it reminds me a lot of Wisconsin…

Next up – I needed to head back indoors – was the Whole Foods Market Columbus Circle. It was a beautiful store.

Rows of fresh flowers, fish, colorful produce, and oh look! It’s French Meadow Bakery! :)

I could seriously live in this store.

Babycakes was the only real bakery we had time for and then it was time to prepare for the show. After a successful show, an amazing dinner at Hundred Acres with the PR ladies and a short night of sleep later; it was time to head home to the much quieter, much darker and much smaller city of Minneapolis.

But for those two days, I pretended I was a big city girl. ;)

I haven’t been to NY in such a long time and I miss it very much. I’ve always had fun running around the city like I don’t have a care in the world, so much fun! Of course, all the times I went it was summer so it was easy to “run around” :)

Yes, I agree, I always love just going with the flow when I visit places! (And kind of pretending that I live there!)

We used to walk to Alma from my office when I worked in MN! It was fantastic. I’ve never been to NYC, but it’s on my list. I loved seeing your pictures. Happy Valentine’s Day to you!

I am intrigued by this Alma place you speak of…. Why have I never heard of it?! Maybe it’s because I live in the ‘burbs. I am going to look it up right now!

Oh it is amazing! Literally one of our top three favorite TC restaurants! They use organic, local, etc. and it is truly a dining experience. I would definitely recommend it!

I have to say, despite me being Jewish and a bagel lover, I’ve never been to New York and I’ve never had a real New York bagel. THAT’S going to have to change!

Love these photos. What a gorgeous display of food! I am in complete agreement. In fact, it overwhelms me a bit how many people I’ve met via the blogging work that hate V-day. I guess I’ve always associated it with love and friendship, and not necessarily romance. It is also a great excuse to bake and eat chocolate! :)

Glad you had fun in my neck of the woods :) I love Columbus Circle and the Time Warner Center! That Whole Foods got me through many lunch breaks when I used to work near there.
