At a food show a few months ago, I tried- and loved - Earth Balance’s new Coconut Spread. It is now in stores, have you seen it?

I really enjoy coconut oil as a toast topping but this Coconut Spread is a great way to introduce coconut oil into your diet if you’ve been a little hesitant until now. It spreads just like butter and can be used in place of butter.

Like:

  • great coconut flavor
  • versitale: can use for baking, cooking, spreading and in place of butter
  • vegan, soy-free, gluten-free and non-GMO
  • all of the recipe ideas on their website (Coconut Spread Recipe Ideas)
  • comes packaged like other butter alternatives

Wish:

  • I have no wishes…that is a first! The only thing that I’m unsure about is that I’m not sure there is a need to have both coconut oil and coconut spread…

I love Earth Balance products, and that one looks just as great as their other butters. I havent seen it yet but I’ll keep my eyes open!

Is coconut oil good or bad for you? I hear so many contradicting opinions on this, that I’m kinda afraid of using it (often).

Hi Wesley, that is a great question! It is still a very debated issue and many different opinions.
It is a regular in my “fat” rotation and there have been many studies that show it has great anti-fungal/microbial/viral properties – as with everything, moderation is key and fitting it in with other fats is also important!

Unrefined coconut oil is one of my favorite things everrrr. Use it daily in my oatmeal and also love to cook with it (makes a great moisturizer too haha, gotta love that). Interesting that they are making a spread out of it, but what a great way to get people to try out this wonderful stuff!

I’ve been wanting to try this! Unfortunately none of the stores in Beloit carry it. :( I do wonder though if it’s necessary to have both a spread and coconut oil. Maybe I would start purchasing this instead of coconut oil…hmm…

I haven’t seen this yet! I am definitely going to check it out. I have never purchased coconut oil before because it seemed to be a bit of a headache to warm it first.

Ive seen this spread at Whole Foods, but have yet to try it! Is the coconut flavor as strong as coconut oil (which I love!)? I’d definitely like to experiment with this product!

That actually sounds fabulous. I wonder if you can get it at regular-people grocery stores? I’m going to look!

I just heard that adding coconut oil is a good way to decrease belly fat! Have you heard that? I will have to give this a try….where did you find it?

Oooh, I need to find this and try it! Does it come in the form of sticks too, like butter?

No “wishes”, wow! I am going to look for this at the store. I’ve heard of similar products but never seen them and I loooove coconut oil and coconut butter!
