slowing down

While in the middle of my 4th sinus infection since November, (never had one prior to November) I decided that it’s time for a few life changes.

When the Doctor was asking about my lifestyle, it seems like I’m doing everything right. I exercise, although I could fit in more cardio;  I eat well, although I could make some improvements; I don’t take in TOO much caffeine, although I guess I can nix that occasional 2nd cup of coffee; I could typically use a little more sleep; and I could probably deal with my stress a little better. It’s not that I’m running around like a headless chicken (sometimes) or constantly stressed to the max, I just have a lot on my plate right now. Simply said, I need to slow down. :)

I’ve decided to head to a Naturopathic Doctor to get some more complete testing and really get to the bottom of the issue, but for now I’m going to make some changes to my diet and do what I can to make some more time for myself. Which means that I’ll most likely be posting 3-4 times per week from now on, unless I just have a ton that I have to share with you right away!  I definitely want to focus on quality over quantity.

    Feel better! I am a long-time sinus infection sufferer and though I haven’t had any recently, the last 2 were just after 2 major life changes (getting married and changing jobs) – I think sometimes stress is a big cause of these! Take care of yourself!

      I’m so sorry to hear that you are a long time sufferer! They are SO annoying. Any special sinus infection tricks I should know about?!? :)

    Do you neti pot? My boyfriend’s sister used to get TONS of sinus infections, and since she’s started using a neti pot, she rarely gets one.

    I’ve been looking at and thinking about my schedule lately, and I think I’m due for some slowing down, too. (I’ve been having some stress-related insomnia. UGH.)

    I hope the naturopath helps you!

      I haven’t tried the neti pot yet because honestly it freaks me out, but if this all continues, I’ll definitely give it a try! I’m glad to hear it works though!

    Sinus infections are no fun. Especially when you have so many of them in such a short time. I’ve been working on improving how I treat my body. I’ve conquered the caffeine and alcohol and now I’m on to handling stress better.

    I’m happy to hear you are taking the time you need and I hope you start feeling better very soon.

    Awwww, I hope things get better for you and you find the balance you need. Personally, I think no good could come out of nixing the 2nd cup of coffee but thats just me :)

    Seriously though, you gotta do whats best for you. Blogging is one small element of life and others things like your health are so much more important. Takie care and look forward to seeing your next post pop up on my Google Reader.

    We bloggers often preach “everything in moderation,” yet we don’t always blog in moderation! I hope that taking a little break will allow you to focus on the important things in life–especially health!

    Several months ago, I realized that I was devoting too much time and energy to blogging, so I stepped back and made more time for myself, as well as friends and family. Now I post about once/week and I enjoy every minute of it–it’s no longer an obligation. :-)

    I totally know how you feel – when I got so sick this last month, I couldn’t figure out why I was getting so sick (when I rarely get sick) and why it was taking me so long to recover. January started so fast this year (school started on the 4th) and I think I never had a chance to really relax – so I am learning how to do that during the school year and busy work season! I hope you figure everything out!
