two years ago…

…was my very first blog post. We’ve had quite the history over the last two years, this little blog and myself.

I’ve changed the name, changed from blogger to wordpress to self-hosted, changed the “look and feel” and have a few more things (my own logo!) currently in the works that I’m really excited about.

Blogging is a very odd thing. Some days I feel like the un-cool 7th grader who can’t eat lunch with the popular girls. Some days I’m amazed that I’ve “met” so many people that share the same interests and passions as me, yet I probably haven’t actually met them in person. Some I have met. (Thanks for the picture Holly!)

But what keeps me going isn’t the number of comments that I get each day or my “stats.” It’s my readers, my friends who faithfully read on a daily basis, my family members who always know what’s going on in my crazy, little life and the Taster who “suffers” through luke-warm dinners on a regular basis, yet has still always encouraged me to keep blogging.

I won’t lie – there are times that I’ve wanted to quit. (Would you want to feel like an un-cool 7th grader again?!)  There have been conversations…

Me: No one even reads my blog, it’s pointless, wah, wah, wah.

Taster: We just bought a DSLR camera – you CAN’T quit!

Me: Urghh, can we return it?!

Then there are the times when I think about opportunities I’ve had, people I’ve met along the way and it makes up for all of the late night work. And best of all – when I hear that someone made (and enjoyed) a recipe; tried something new or has changed their life for the better – thats really all I need to keep going.

So Thank You! For reading, for commenting and for sticking around. :) If there’s anything you would like to see more or less of this next year let me know!

Don’t even think about quitting. It’s your blog that puts a smile on my face early in the morning and makes me feel closer to you on a daily basis than the 250 miles that separate us.

I feel like the uncool seventh grader all the time. I know very few people in real life who also blog. I get strange looks when I tell guests they can’t touch the food yet because the lighting was off in the first picture. But it sure is fun, isn’t it?? :)

Yeah for 2 years! It is amazing how fast it goes, fun experiences and the moments of frustration. But meeting great friends and being invited to fun events makes up for it.

I totally know how you feel lady! I often have those same thoughts and conversations…like, why do I even blog? It’s so much work and can sometimes be unrewarding. But when it is rewarding, and I think of all the good it has brought to my life, I keep on truckin’. Love your site, so keep it up!

    Happy blog birthday!

Coming from a new blogger it’s truly inspiring to hear…I totally agree with you, somedays I feel like the outcast for sure but we just have to press on. I am so very thankful for each and every person that takes the time to read about my simple little life.

The healthy living blogging community is such an amazing community to be a part of.

I love your blog! Keep doing what you’re doing lady :)

Emily – I LOVE your blog! I read it daily, although seldom comment. I’m in the camp of people trying to improve their life for the better in terms of fitness and nutrition. It’s blogs like yours that bring wisom and insight to the countless number of nutrition-illiterate like myself that want to make positive changes but just don’t know where to start. Thanks for your blog! It’s great!

First of all, Happy 2nd blogoversary.

I’m glad you decided to stick it out. I myself have asked myself that question many times….ultimately, I think the biggest beneficiary of any blog needs to be the author herself. I hope that is the case for you, though I also have to add that your blog certainly benefits us readers too! :-)

Such a good point Sophia! I never really thought about it that way, but I would say it is very true for me – I just didn’t realize it. :)

Congrats on 2 years – I’m glad you stuck with it! :) Can you tell me how you found the process of becoming self-hosted? I’m on blogger right now and have been thinking about moving to wordpress or self-hosted and would LOVE any feedback/suggestions about the process!
